The structure of the electromagnetic Flowmeter mainly consists of magnetic circuit system, measuring conduit, electrode, shell, lining and converter. Its function is to generate a uniform DC or AC magnetic field. The DC magnetic circuit is implemented with permanent magnets. Its advantage is that the structure is relatively simple and is less disturbed by the AC magnetic field. However, it easily polarizes the electrolyte liquid passing through the measurement catheter, causing the positive electrode to be surrounded by negative ions and the negative electrode to be surrounded by positive ions. Surrounding, that is, the polarization phenomenon of the electrodes, causes the internal resistance between the two electrodes to increase, thus seriously affecting the normal operation of the instrument. When the diameter of the pipe is large, the permanent magnet is correspondingly large, bulky and uneconomical, so electromagnetic flowmeters generally use alternating magnetic fields and are generated by 50HZ power frequency power supply.

The application fields of electromagnetic flowmeters are very wide. According to the application, they are divided into large diameter, small and medium diameter, small diameter and micro diameter. Among them, large diameter electromagnetic flowmeters are mostly used in water supply and drainage, sewage treatment, oil and gas field water injection and other projects. Small and medium diameters are often used. It is used in difficult-to-measure fluids such as solid-liquid dual-phase or in places with high requirements, such as measuring paper polymer liquid and black liquor in the papermaking industry, slurry in the non-ferrous metallurgical industry, coal slurry in coal preparation plants, strong corrosive liquids in the chemical industry, and blast furnace tuyere cooling water in the steel industry.
